The year 2011 has not been that good as concerned with the artistic world in India .The start of the year started with news of the demise of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and then followed by Srinivas Khale and Jagjit Singh . The trio were great name in the music world which enthralled everyone with there music and lyrics .


"Abhangawani" was such a treat to the ears that it would also make an atheist to be a believe in  Panduranga. The Abhangas "Tirth vithal shetra vithal"and "Je ka ranjale ganjale" make the common man to have a Wari(yatra) of Pandharpur.


Khale saheb compostion was such that would get on with the small children to the doyens of classical music fans ."Gori gori pan phula sarkhi chan" to tunes of " ya baglyanchi maal" are his classics. None other than him would have brought Pandit Bhimsen with Lata Mangeshkar .


Jagjit Singh classic silk voice brought a life to ghazals. He was the real maestro who with his "Kagaz ki kashti" and " Na chitti na koi sandesh "brought revival in this form. His voice from the movie " Arth" was melodous especially "Tum itna kyon muskurate hon" and still remain the favourite.


We even lost the famous Rudali Assamese  singer Bhupen Hazarika who brought the Assamese music in the mainstream cinema .



The year also took away from us the two shining stars from our film galaxy . The first was the Yahoo man legendary Shammi Kapoor. The pinkish chubby star with his free enigmatic dance moves was the heartthrob of everyone . With his swinging moves in " Bar bar dekho " to " O hasina zulfowali " it was the charming actor which made every class to move with a zing . He was suffering fro kidney ailment but still his zest of learning the internet world and mingle along with youth , gave the glimpse of his evergreen life . The fact he was accepted across all generations till date suggest his popularity and charm.
Yesterday the Sunday morning was brought to a lull by the news of the demise of the ever charming Dev Anand. Astoundingly charming good look with the puffed hair style the lanky hero had his own style . He has numerous of fantastic hummable songs "Jiya hoo"," Acccha ji mein hari"," Aaj phir jeene ki tammana hai. ..... the list goes on and on never ending list. The most striking feature of his films were they were his movies would challenge the set of values and was the out of box thinking which make shock and awe. No one would forget the song " Mein zindagi ka sath nibhat chala gaya" the style of Dev sahab was superb hats off to him . His movie "Guide " was the cult classic with the character of Raju , the guide by Dev Anand and Waheda Raheman. It was surprise to hear in todays press that the movie was also directed in ENGLISH for overseas market with the foreign crew . His courage to make movies with his own viewpoint and not being bogged down by the commercial interest was spectacular . He gave the major boost to careers of many debutantes like Zeenat Aman , Tina Munim , tabu. He had got such energy and enthusiasm that even till date he had plans to make new movies but sadly his movies were with very out of date type of treatment which obviously didn't work out. But overall a fantastic career beginning from a humble background to be a hero then have his own banner "NAVKETAN FILMS".

A tribute to all these stalwarts who made our life more interesting and meaning to our life . RIP TO ALL THE GENIUS SINGERS AND ACTORS WHO LEFT A INDELIBLE MARK OF THERE SHEER GENIUS AND HARD WORK .

Is bollywood creating real box office winners ?

Just watched this weekend two movies on TV , on was the much publicized so called super hit movie "BODYGUARD" and today very lowly publicized fine  Marathi movie "TARYANCHE BET".
It made me think how are the business economics , box office and all financial things has no real connection with the quality of the movies . It gives a clear picture to the viewers that only highly publicized mega  budget movies are the once who just because of high promotional budgets lead the race and win it too. Whereas, low publicized and high on subject story gets critical acclaim and less moolah.




So, not deviating from the subject saw "BODYGUARD " of super builder star (not actor)was such a lousy and boring film. A movie with some very plain tasteless subject and unimaginative turns which fall flat on the face . Just on the basis of Salman , the movie goes on showing his biceps and packs and all. In short , its total waste of your money and time to watch this type of big star boring and meaningless film .



On the other hand the another Marathi film with Sachin Khedekar film "TARYANCHE BET" a low budget film but with a fine storyline and excellent subject goes unnoticed on the box-office. A film based on a small happy family enjoying a rural life and content with it. His son who comes with him to Mumbai for a short trip gets fascinated by 5- star hotel and bets with his father to spend a day in hotel if he tops in his class. This simple but expensive request creates a sort of mental turmoil in the life of the protagonist. A simple film showing loving relationship of father - son and his fight to make his son's dream come true.

Thus this shows how come in Bollywood the star power and promotional strength just creates movies only star-centric and just concerned about the 100 crores bracket and not relating to the script. Whereas we see in the regional films , the major thought is given to  the content and not revolve around the star . Due to less financial strength they not be in the league of the 100 cr BoxOffice winners , but definitely high on the content with soul in the name which makes you satisfy to watch a story which entertains and also gives something to takeaway .

There is an exception to "3 IDIOTS"but most of the movies which have reached the 100cr marks are all duds and only driven by the STAR power gimmicks like Singham,Ra-ONE an the list goes on and on.... So, it would better which ever movie just don't go on the face of the star power on the star power , wait and watch rather these people will go on giving us meaningless BO films.

RA-ONE THE WRONG-ONE

SRK's much awaited film RA-ONE released today and the mixed reviews much more on the positive side made my decision to view it today. If not today , it would have been anytime this week since Ra-One was all over no space left where even if you close your eyes the character of G-ONE(SRK' Character) will be in front of your eyes.



With high expectations on Ra-One, the first 10 minutes showed the glimpse of boredom which made to feel this is Bore-One . The initial character of SRK of South Indian with aiyos, idlis and kunju kunju was typical SRK ham acts which makes you believe you are going to watch humbug movie. The child actor Armann Verma has played his part very well and it suits his character very well. Kareena Kapoor looks Gorgeous but seems to be POOO... FROM Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum . She has done her job well, the scene where she has negative shades has been depicted superbly. The plot of good over evil has been the central theme of the movie . The plot would have been okay if it would have been movie with shorter length and devoid of songs . The songs really broke the pace of the movie.



Regarding the VFX effects , they were simply wow. On that count the movie stands to be first with super effects and the execution. But considering the character and the story it falls flat. Can't imagine to watch its sequel . Arjun Rampal is a wooden furniture better not to have a word about him .





The songs "Dill dara" is nice soft hummable tune . The much famous " Chamak Chalo" is nice and fun especially  Akon vocals  but not in the class of item songs like Munni and Sheela.SRK has given his best shot for bringing advance special effects , the suit and all but the core part of plot and nice story line let it down. The train sequence was fun to watch and the introduction of Rajinikanth was a damp squib.The fight sequence of G-One and Ra-one was very childish and not upto the mark

Over the movie which through its over extensive overdrive marketing gimmickry with products like Pens, TV, Youtube Channels and Reality shows fell flat . It was similar to the delivery which spinners bowl which seems to come in and goes the other way around ... the WRONG-ONE. Yup the high expectations of Diwali release like DDLJ, KKKG, KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI,DON,OM SHANTI OM this RA-ONE was sure a BORE-ONE.

ENJOY DIWALI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The mild chill in the morning air bring along with Diwali atmosphere . Diwali bring along the feeling of joy, enthusiasm , fun and lots of energy . We see along every house , shops nook and corner people scrubbing the floors and cleaning there houses to welcome Goddess Lakshmi at home. The markets are filled with heaps of rangoli colours , kandils(lanterns), crackers and sweets .


My favourite among them is the Akashkandil which sways with gentle wind during the Diwali night surrounded by the colourful light torans. The traditional pantis with lit up diyas removes the darkness of the night illuminates and radiates happiness in every person rich and poor with simple joy and smile.




The festivities and shopping around the Diwali is enjoyable but my favourite part of the festivities is the faral for Diwali . The fragrance of the bhajani for chakli which is brought freshly grounded is simply put of the world. WOW!!!. The aroma of the besan while preparing of besan ladoos craves to have the ladoo melt in your mouth as soon as possible.



Its great fun to be in the kitchen during the preparation of faral ( i do it very less and my work is mainly to taste the faral ). Its fun to watch the ladoos being rolled into shape and stuffed with pista,badam, charoli and kismis. The making of chaklis is fun to watch which really require skill and strength to shape them up. The crispy and sweet diamond shaped Shankarpalis( wonder why its name like that) are very beautiful .



But mine favourite is "CHIVDA". It just a bliss to have the combination of chivda, garma garma chai and Diwali ank ( makes my Diwali day :) ). The chivda is such a craze for me that friends at hostel used to address me "CHIVDA BABA" .Although its being my made yearly for me but the relish of enjoying it in Diwali is something different. The Kranjis with its sweet half moon shaped filled with coconut fillings also makes to lose the calories consciousness.Then are may rawa ladoos, anarse , shev the list goes on and on .... .


But the fun of Diwali is along with friends and relatives together and enjoying whole day with faral and gupshup day along. Evenings filled with dhamal bursting crackers , and who will miss the colourful rangolis which welcomes Goddess Lakshmi to bless all the year along . But the truth is fast pace life and the people moved away for careers head these moments have been lost . Still the advent of Facebook, Twitter and E-greetings have made virtual gathering of festivities.

Who can forget the bursting of crackers , the sparkling sparkles , the anars and the zamin chakras . It was fun to gather on the terrace or ground and enjoy the crackers with bonfire at the end.But, now we have to be socially responsible since these crackers also affect the old people, small children , animals and birds . So its better to burst cracker before 10 p.m and after 6 a.m .
The Diwali along with the welcoming of wealth it also brings along the responsibility to share joy , clothes, firecrackers and sweets to the needy people .

So , enjoy DIWALI with delicious faral, play safe with crackers and have loads of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PAISA VASOOL.MOVIE !!!

This movie Sahib ,Biwi Aur Gangster is a perfect movie which makes for the feeling of paisa vasool movie. A great entertainer movie with a taut script and a great star cast makes a great watch. Tigmanshu Dhulia initial movie Charas was also on drug mafia starring Irfan Khan and Jimmy Shergill which was similar entertainer.

The casting of the individual roles for the characters have been simply perfect . The aristocratic sahib in the heartland of Uttar Pradesh played by Jimmy Shergill is simply royal. The family which has lost it financially and fighting to keep its root in the political system uses every means available in the book to bump of its rival.The royal habits of hunting, the arrogance and lust has been depicted in very realistic way . Its very heartening to see Jimmy Shergill role has been of substance and main lead since he has been a proven actor in supporting roles in films like Wednesday and Munnabhai series.

Mahi Gill since DevD has been a revelation , she has played the role of woman neglected by sahib and always in search of quenching her thirst for lust. The intensity of the role has been neatly maintained by her . Her every look seems to have a flash of TABU in her and by her acting she proves she is different for the typically starry craps in Bollywood.

The surprise package has been Randeep Hooda in the role, he has done a wonderful role . His entry has been stunning he plays a role with aplomb.A spy planted by the rivals which it gets into illicit relationship with sahib's wife and then trying to topple sahib in the greed for power and lust for his wife.

The dialogues of the movies are fantastic and very apt to the situation . The script has lots of thrills and surprising move which keeps the audience on the edge of the seat. The supporting star cast of the main rival of Sahib and the politician . The rural setup, the rustic language and the gun fights bring the memories of the old filmi style treatment.

Overall , a fantastic movie which will make you smile with enjoying every moment of it .

UPA'S DANDIYA RAAS

Its Navaratra Utsav which is being celebrated around India, people are enjoying the garba and dandiya festivities .The festival in which all the devotees pray to goddess Durga and also do jagran by enjoying garba . The similar type of ritual is being followed around the congress high house at 10 Janpath . The deity for the Congress chamcha is non other than the one and only one Italino Sonia Devi.

It has been a mere coincidence the way issues flare up on her arrival and all the congress bhakts just run around her mandir praying for solutions. Our Bengali Babu Moshoi made a true revelation and a note that his chaddi yarr Chiddu could have avoided the 2G scam. This created a storm in the lungi of Chettinand yedchap who started crying and creating ruckus at home since he is the Home minister. So our Chiddu started calling franatically to one Sardar who we Indians are made to believe that he is the PM.But everyones knows who the real PM is the one who has the remote in her  hands.Fearing there Devi our Pranabda ran to New York and then started to explain Mandy about his mistakle. But our Top ka Sardar was interested in clearing the line for the Pakistan foreign weapon of mass destruction Khar.Thus it was a futile visit for Pranabda,he would utilised the time to prepare for the Durga Pujo. The only thing he missed might be the PM's birthday which was being celebrated in the flight .

When the PM and his entourage came along the problem of Pranab Chitti to Chiddu got flared up in the media. Now the navratara has started and it was the time to please the goddess. Thus, we saw in the Congress TV channels like CNN-IBN that the ministers with their best attire were getting ready to play garba . Thus, every top minister from Khurshid, Moily, Narayanswamy s, danced to the tunes of Soniadevi. Every day during the nine day fest we will see great dramas. The Chiidu will always send rumours that he is going to resign , our Sardar will cry along everytime he has full confidence in Chaadi oops Chiddu. Then Bangla man will appease PM to show he didn't mean that . Then in the late midnight all GoM will go to Sonia and try to explain her the similar situation. This situation go on daily for nine days.

But the real surprise will be when the hidden cameras will show us that rather than discussing about the issues, these ministers are dancing around Sonia and enjoying the Garba nights . Rahul Gandhi is beating the drums and the Doggie a.k.a Diggy Singh will bark around assume he is singing. Thus , rather be involved in some serious issues which are close to to people but enjoying the night revelry .So here when the planning committee decides that anyone earning more than Rs 32/- per day is not poor, our government not concerned with this issue. They are angered that there Home Minster is just accused of not being able to avoid the scam . On whose money our Finance Minister was making those foreign jaunts , it would have been wise if he would have stayed 2-3 days more. The worst he would have called PM on India's 3G network . It shows how the govt will blow the Indians money and says we are not the part of crime.
Its for us to decide why and how to destroy the ten headed monster of Congress this coming Dusherra or just flocking the theaters to watch SRKs Ra-one .

Political Chamak-chalos :) :)

After viewing the trailer of SRK's RA-ONE " You are my chamakchalo " it just strike me in our political circles there are political items which make the government dance to the tune of there whims and fancies .

Considering the present UPA 2.0 , the one and only one Italiano gelato which moves and shakes the Sardar and his ministers. SONIA , the pizza girl who with her drama of giving up the highest post of PM made herself the poster girl of the Congress government. The brand Gandhi, made her path easier than others in the rat race of politics. The lady has team of chamchas like Doggy Diggy(a.k.a Digvijay Singh) who digs his own pit for his stupidity and falls in it. The no hold bared Manish Tewari who has masterminded the art of politics of talking away from the point and blabbering all night along. Then there's the hamara Lungiwallah Chiddu (Chidambarbarm) who shows is mathematical genius by giving awesome calculations about after how much time the terrorist have strike India (surprisingly giving us strike rate at which Mumbai has been attacked by terrorist ).There Bongo Babumoshai Pranabda who instead of finding solution to inflation is digging history to play blame games against NDA's policies. The party includes a lawyer by profession who have always defended white collar criminals and star's son in bomb blast case took his potshots at ANNA'S Team of being corrupt, yup that SIBAL the Tribal. We can't forget the two major lead people who dance around Sonia , one is what we cal him the remote controlled PM,His Highenss Manmohan Singh . He is the one who gave India a fillip towards global growth and now he has turned out to be a doll in the hands of the Italiano Madam. Finally, the major star role has gone non other than Rahul Gandhi who has knack of going into villages and staying at home of Dalits to show pseudo secularism. Who knows does he really eats the villlager's food or gorges on the pizzas & pastas since the cameras never enter the house at the time of dining. The absence of Sonia during the Anna 's recent fast showed how dead-brained are these stalwarts . They even can take one sensible decision and always fell flat on there face. I hope on account of sycophancy, they might have changed there diet to Italian Pasta, Pizza, Nachos rather than Paratha,Dahi Machi and Rasam.They may have changed rather writing style only in itlalics .

The next one is who is not heir to any political surname , but she has lots of Maya. She is so fond of her footwear that she tells her loyal minister in state cabinet to take an empty flight to Mumbai to bring her fine - pair of shoes (expensive jimmy choos). Yup that's our UP' BE-HENJI SUSHRI Mayawati, the chief minister of UP and leader of BSP . She is fond of herself that she has installed more than 100 statues in UP. The ministers and babus in her team are so loyal they eventually they clean the dust on her shoes with pride . A mighty lady who could'nt take her leaked report from Wikileaks and blasted JULIAN ASSANGE ,the owner of Wilkileaks as mental(mad) in press conference. She offered him to have a bed kept ready in Agra's Mental Hospital. The lady has her beauty treatment and hair cuts done in Paris are at states expense. Her ministers are so generous and sychopant that at BSP 25th anniversary they gave her garland full of 1000 notes worth rupees 21 lakhs ( a small considering A.Raja's scam). Thus in UP, ALL IS WELLL if you keep in pace your jhatkas with behenji or get CBI case reopened against you is her diktat.

The third candidate for Chamak-Chalo is Huge lady JAYALALITHA( a.k.a AMMA) , the leader of AIADMK. Her fondness for shoes is also unmatches Mayawati in sheer numbers estimate she has 10,000 pairs of shoes. A strong rival to the DMK leader Karunanidhi(who just has Nidhi and no Karuna ). During election campaigns there's a strong fight for winning votes on the basis of freebies like TVs, mixer grinders, fridge that makes the kitchen politics rules.Always the one lady who moves along to the party like NDA or UPA which agrees to fill her coffers and dissolve her cases in the state against her registered by CBI. Her vote in the parliament is crucial during coalition formation. Her famous feats including the dragging of Karunanidhi of his slumber early morning in full media glare by police.

Last, but not the least includes the Bongo-lady who with her slogan MAA-MATI- MANUSH has driven out the LEFT by serving them right on their point where it hurts the most. The bongo-babe has even created trouble by her tough stance to the Center. Recently ,she just refused to go along with PM to Bangladesh due to water sharing issue. The lady during her ministry has taken every train to the remotest part of Bengal with Bangladesh. She has driven out the mighty TATA'S pet project NANO from Singur and even achieved the feat to change the name of state to Poschim Bongo. The CPI(M) which ruled the Bengal for 34 years was routed out by this fiery fisted lady and sending them in the RIGHT place in the oppostion bench .

There are still many chamak- chalos like Sushma Swaraj who can have a jig at Rajghat, Sheila Dikshit who has been really been dickshit and looted the public during CWG held in Delhi. , Renuka Chowdary who throws her overweight now and then in Hyderabad .These lady politicians who have made there ministries and babus to dance at there tunes and made a public tamasha for everyone to see. So, enjoy the fireworks of these political chamka-chalos till the original hot BEBO hits the silver screen this DIWALI with Ra-One.
